Royalti Minyak - Bukti Betapa Jahatnya Kerajaan BN

Kenyataan terbaru di Parlimen yang dikeluarkan “Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Amirsham A.Aziz said the royalty paid to the Federal Government was RM13.420 billion, Terengganu RM7.364 billion, Sabah RM1.234 billion and Sarawak RM4.821 billion for the financial years ended March 2004 till March 2007“ adalah suatu yang memeranjatkan bagi IB.

Selanjutnya...

KUALA LUMPUR, tues:
National oil company Petronas paid out a total of RM26.839 billion in royalties to the Federal Government and the state governments of Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak for the financial years ended March 2004 till March 2007.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Datuk Amirsham A.Aziz said the royalty paid to the Federal Government was RM13.420 billion, Terengganu RM7.364 billion, Sabah RM1.234 billion and Sarawak RM4.821 billion. He said the country’s crude oil reserves and condensate were expected to last 22 years while the gas reserves 39 years.“Although it looks like the reserves period is long, the reality is the country is also importing oil and gas to partly cater to the local demand.

Therefore, the country is expected to become a net importer of energy in the near term projected to be by 2014,” he said during the Question and Answer session at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today. He was replying to a question from Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Permatang Pauh). On Petronas contribution or royalties to the states, he said they were paid according to the formula that had been fixed which is five percent or half of the royalty received by the Federal Government.

Amirsham said the petroleum and gas products exported by the subsidiary companies of Petronas are based on world market prices while in the domestic market, the prices of products sold are partly fixed by the government such as the sale of gas to the electric sector and non electric sector.Petronas recorded a total revenue of RM165.3 billion from the sales of its petroleum and gas products for the financial year ended March 31, 2007.To a question on whether the government had agreed to paying Sarawak a royalty rate of 20 percent for the oil from new oil fields, Amirsham said as at this point the government had no plans to review the royalty.

Angry Sabahan MPs give deadline

Sabah's SAPP MPs led by Datuk Yong Teck Lee have issued an ultimatum to the Prime Minister - resolve the problems in the state by August or we cannot guarantee that we will still remain in the Barisan Nasional. It is the strongest warning from a Sabah politician since the open expression of unhappiness over the past two days. Sabahan MPs, said to persuaded by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to quit BN, have been vocal and one PBS MP said he has met the PKR leader.

Yong warned that "an explosion" will take place in Sabah when the "opposition comes into play" but did not elaborate. Anwar is clearly a factor - that's by Yong's admission. The possible defection of Sabah MPs has been the biggest talk among the politicians and press at Dewan Rakyat since Monday. They are also the most sought after MPs these days with the spotlight on them. There is talk of these Sabahan MPs forming somekind of caucus or even a new party instead of joining PKR - where they will play second fiddle - but they know that they are calling the shots now. But for now, they have remained uncommittal and vague. Certainly, most of them are enjoying the attention they are getting.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 13, 2008): The "sound of music" can sometimes be too excessive as in the case of Petronas’ Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) which costs RM3.5 million a month to sustain.

Lim Guan Eng (DAP-Bagan) pointed this out in his debate on the motion of thanks on the royal address in Parliament today, charging that these funds, spent on the orchestra that is only made up of 5% locals and 95% foreigners, could be utilised better.

"Where the Barisan Nasional (BN) government refuses to allow Petronas to share its profits with the people, this giant fuel company is wiling to pay its foreign musicians a monthly wage of between RM16,000 and RM28,000 a month.

"Each of them have two months paid leave. The conductor is paid RM130,000 a month and his assistant RM50,000. Since its 10 years of establishment, the orchestra has cost Petronas RM500 million," he said.

Lim, who is also Penang Chief Minister, questioned Petronas' willingness "to waste so much money but does not give any benefit to the local musicians", reiterating his call for its profits to be handed out to the people to help them cope with rising prices. More...
