Melayu sudah hilang kuasa - Ku Li

KOTA BHARU 31 March 2008 – UMNO perlu menerima hakikat bahawa orang Melayu sebenarnya sudah hilang kuasa dan hanya mengharapkan bantuan dari Sabah serta Sarawak untuk terus kekal memimpin negara.

Ahli Parlimen Gua Musang, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (gambar) berkata, parti itu perlu melakukan sesuatu kerana rakyat khususnya di Semenanjung sudah mula hilang kepercayaan terhadapnya.
“We have lost five states and the two-thirds majority in Parliament. If we did not get support from Sabah and Sarawak Barisan Nasional component parties, we would have lost Parliament and the Government. This is a serious matter,” he said.

Asked if the Umno grassroots are afraid of their own leaders, he said the fear factor had been deeply rooted for years.

“When we negotiated with the British for independence, we had leaders who were not fearful.

“Those days, we had brave hearts but now we we are even afraid of our own leaders.

“In reality, we are the ones who would determine the fate of our leaders.” he added.
