Akhir-akhir ini berlaku kenaikan harga beras, dan dikejutkan dengan laporan yang 30 % saham BERNAS di milikki oleh sebuah negara luar.

Gagasan Badan Ekonomi Melayu (Gabem) mendakwa 30 peratus saham Padiberas Nasional Bhd (Bernas) dikuasai oleh sebuah negara luar.Bernas merupakan sebuah syarikat yang tersenarai di Bursa Malaysia."Saham Bernas telah dibeli secara konsisten oleh pihak tertentu sehingga mereka kini menguasai 30 peratus sahamnya," kata pengerusi Gabem, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik. Kenyataan ini disiarkan oleh Malaysiakini.

Manakala satu kejadian yang berlaku di Setiu, Terengganu pada 9 April 2008 petani-petani di situ kecewa kerana menunggu kehadiran MB tak kunjung tiba untuk melihat masalah pengairan yang dialami menyebabkan tanah sawah terbiar. Masaalah petani-petani ini telah sekian lama dialami . Pelik tapi benar, dibawah bekas MB Terengganu yang lalu lebih utamakan projek-projek membazir seperti apa yang berlaku di Setiu, pembinaan jalanraya di dalam hutan dan tidak diguna. Projek ini dibuat semata-mata untuk kepentingan kroni-kroni.
